This is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings or other structures.
ARCHITECT is a person who plans, designs and oversees the construction of buildings or according to original Greek definition is a chief builder.
To practice architecture means to provide services in connection with the design of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings that have human occupancy or use as their principal purpose.
The earliest surviving text on architectural theory is the 1st century AD treatise De architectura by the Roman architect Vitruvius, according to whom a good building embodies firmitas, utilitas, and venustas (durability, utility, and beauty).
Since then, architecture become the art and technique of designing and building, fulfilling both practical and expressive requirements, and thus it serves both utilitarian and aesthetic ends.
Many people believe that they know how to design the house. They do understand that some huge apartment buildings or commercial developments require the architect, but a simple house is could be easily designed by everyone, as this is a simple task of putting together 5-10 rooms … I think we all at least once have heard this kind of expression. But reality is not as simple. Even if we put aside the”art part” of the architectural profession, there are many laws and regulations on building construction which have to be followed, as well as experience of creating usable and comfortable living spaces.
I would like to stress the world Builder in the original definition of Architect, so when you decide to get involved in the property development or even simple house extension do yourself a favour and engage a professional to help you and it is essential to choose the one who has an experience in real construction process.
