Multi Residential Development Project in George Town
Located on the Northern edge of Tasmania facing the Bass Strait, George Town is a small town with a rich history, making it the third oldest city in Australia. As a building design firm, ArchIdea had the exciting opportunity to design a sustainable Multi Residential development in the local area. However, the complexity of the site presented some challenges that needed to be overcome.
Multi Residential Development: Creating sustainable off-grid homes in Tasmania
The site is situated in a bushfire prone area and abuts Crown land, which required ArchIdea to come up with a design solution that would take these factors into account while still meeting local density requirements. Despite these challenges, ArchIdea was able to successfully design a sustainable development that met all necessary safety requirements while still being aesthetically pleasing.
To achieve this, ArchIdea chose SHADOWCLAD® as the primary material for the four dwellings in the development. SHADOWCLAD® was chosen due to its sustainable qualities and suitability for the bushfire zone. Its durability and resistance to the harsh Australian climate made it an excellent choice for development. Additionally, the material’s natural timber finish adds a touch of warmth and character to the overall design.
