Renovation Project in Wheelers Hill
The Walden Residence is a renovation and extension project for an existing double storey brick veneer house located in Wheelers Hill, Melbourne. The house, built in the 1980s, required updates to its facade, internal layout, and various other features. Our team worked closely with the client to ensure that the final design met their needs and exceeded their expectations.
Modern House Renovation: Updating Facade with Steel Arched Windows and Reconfigured Open Living Space
The renovation involved updating the existing 70’s facade to give the house a modern look. The original arched window features were preserved and complemented by the addition of new steel arched windows and entry doors. A front porch extension was added to serve as the focal point of the house and provides access to the reverse living area via new stairs, as original staircase was poorly placed and created a distraction of the flow rather than an integrated element of the house.
The internal layout was also updated, with a particular focus on the kitchen and living areas. The kitchen was reconfigured to create an open living space and allow for a more functional and modern design. The result is a beautiful and functional living space that blends the old with the new and provides a comfortable and modern living environment.
The ground floor originally contained a Bar and associated entertainment area, however due to being on the low ground did not have good natural light and access to the back yard, so it became a dead space that family rarely used. This area was turned to bedroom area for two girls. this essentially gave the owners not only two extra bedrooms but two separate living areas for adults and teenagers.
